The Impetus to Action : Reasons for Hope

When doctors first saw this 3 year-old baby, they numbered his life in days. With herbal treatment, six months later he was smiling and healthy.

After the United States, Romania has the second largest number of AIDS patients under the age of 12. According to the Romania health authorities, 92% of the 3,119 reported AIDS cases were aged 19 or younger.
The way in which the HIV virus was transmitted to children differs from other countries. Under the dictator Ceausescu regime, women were prohibited from obtaining abortions. The result in an impoverished economy was children for whom parents could not provide proper care. Many were abandoned and subsequently taken into national orphanages. It is believed that some of the undernourished children were inadvertently given blood transfusions using tainted blood or infected needles.
A program on Japanese television brought the plight of these children to the attention of Dr. Michio Tani. He was moved to action on the belief that his integrated approach to medicine, drawing on both Oriental and western medical traditions, could be used to treat these children. Dr. Tani first visited the Victor Babes Hospital in Bucharest in 1991. On his third visit, he met a nurse who had been accidentally infected with HIV. She volunteered to become a patient. Young Romanian doctors also showed an interest in Dr. Tani's treatment.
Encouraged by this reception, Dr. Tani began a collaboration in March 1992 with Dr. Matusa Rodica of Constanta Hospital, which had the largest number of AIDS patients in Romania. The program of treatment progressed smoothly and 30 months later the remarkable results were evident to all. Elsewhere, children with AIDS stop growing. But here 90% had actually gained weight and recovered from diarrhea. One quarter became asymptomatic and their quality of life improved dramatically.
The progress reported to Dr. Tani reaffirmed his experience in the use of prime natural medicines-or shoyaku in Japanese-and encouraged him to develop even more effective natural medicines.

Dr. Tani also treated more than 20 adults infected with HIV. The clinical results were similar to those among the children.

A Clinical Success in Romania

In March 1992, Drs. Michio Tani and Rodica Matusa initiated the treatment of 40 symptomatic cases of pediatric AIDS at Constanta Municipal Hospital in Romania. Dr. Tani prescribed the herbal therapy and has made regular visits to Romania to monitor the progress. Dr. Matusa and her colleagues administered the therapy at the same time as they continued to treat other children using conventional drugs for relieving the symptoms of AIDS.
The treatment has reduced the percentage of clinically serious cases from 29 out of 40 patients (72.5%) at the outset to 3 out of 36 patients (8.3%) as of Sep., 1994. Most notably, 9 individuals (or 25%) became asymptomatic after three years of treatment (Fig. 1). Patients were discharged from the hospital as their T-cell counts reached an average of 858 mmc. (Fig 2). Among the patients still hospitalized, physicians observed a significant improvement in the quality of life. During the period of treatment, the mortality rate among those receiving the herbal medicine was 10% compared to one-third among a group that was treated only with AZT.
The primary focus of Dr. Tani has always been clinical treatment, not research. And this was the spirit in which he sought to cure the Romanian children. The clinical results have been consistent with Dr. Tani's years of experience. His experience has been that herbal treatment helps to maintain health and to stimulate the immune system. Because his approach to herbal treatment has the advantage of no toxicity or side effects, patients can remain in the best health and, free of the burden of side effects, retain a positive outlook on life

The clinical experience of Dr. Tani is that herbal prescriptions are effective in treating AIDS. This method of treating AIDS offer hope to patients awaiting the development of a vaccine specific to HIV. From 40 children four years ago, the number of children being treated in Romania has risen to about 100 today. They now are taken care under the supervision of Dr. Matusa and other doctors in the Constanta Hospital, Bucharest. Over the past four years, Dr. Tani has written about
his treatment in medical journals and presented his findings at conferences.

Update... The Newest Report from Romania !

In 2000 year's reports from Constanta, Romania, we got wonderful resluts based on our long term treatment over 8 years.
Our treatment contributed to the drop of the amount of HIV-RNA below the measurable level for 9 out of 10 patients at the one facility called 'House of Tomorrow'. Furthermore, the treatment led to the preservation and increase of CD4 count, a remarkable decrease in mortality rate, as well as the maintenance of a good quality life. No side effects were recognized either clinically or biochemically, nor was there any emergence of drug resistant strains of HIV as seen with anti-HIV chemical treatments.

The results of 10 patients at 'House of Tomorrow' are as follows. (June 2000)

In particular, the treatments at the volunteer-supported House of Tomorrow have been substantially augmented by nutritional instruction and fine psychological and emotional care. We were able to receive the remarkable results because the treatments at House of Tomorrow have been done as Dr Tani's instruction certainly.

Dr Tani was satisfied with the news that the less medicated patients group had showed such a favorable improvement. It is proved that his prime natural medicines are efficient in AIDS treatment. Based on it, he continues his work to save more children and to develop the more effective natural medicines. Now, we go to see what the "
Shoyaku" - prime natural medicines are.
